Rooted in Stillness: A Guided Meditation

I know how it feh can later go to my yoga mat) , and become aware of the world around me. Sounds, colors, temperatures help to bring me back.
I recently had a few days where I fell apart emotionally. I allowed myself to feel those feelings and gave myself the grace to indulge in my sadness. I found though that , coming back to that feeling of comfort and balance was harder. Even though I was feeling better, it felt like the world lost it's color.
So, I started off slow, moving into routines while listening to music, stepping outside into the cool brisk air (it's early February as I write this). I began to feel more aware of the beauty around me and began to feel more inspired.
I put together a meditation that I want to share with you. I hope that it will help gently guide you back to your inner center on rough days and help you feel calmer as more clear as you move through your day.

Rooted in Stillness
Let's Begin
To start, just find a comfortable spot—whether you're sitting up or lying down, whatever feels best for you right now. And if it feels right, gently close your eyes. If you prefer to keep them open, just soften your gaze and look down towards the ground.
We'll begin by really grounding ourselves, connecting deeply with the Earth right beneath us.
Grounding with Imagery
Just picture it now: this incredible warm, golden light flowing right from the Earth's core, gently rising to meet the soles of your feet, or perhaps your tailbone. Feel that light transform into these incredibly gentle yet strong roots, reaching downwards, weaving through layers of rich soil, solid rock, and even shimmering crystals. See them growing thick and sturdy, truly anchoring you deep, deep down to the very heart of Mother Earth. Can you feel that unwavering support? This ancient, nurturing planet is holding you so safely.
(Pause for a few breaths)
Now, take a beautiful, deep breath in, really drawing that golden Earth energy right up through your roots, feeling it flow like a nourishing stream all through your body, filling you with a sense of profound stability and quiet presence. Hold it just for a moment... and then slowly, gently release it, letting go of any tension, any worries, or scattered thoughts, sending them right back down into our amazing Earth where they can be transformed and recycled. She's got them.
(Pause for a few breaths)
Just allow your body to truly settle now, feeling that warm, golden connection to the Earth grow deeper with every single breath. Let your muscles just melt like warm sand, your shoulders gently release like soft slopes, and your jaw unclench, becoming as still as a calm pond. Just know you are held. You are so deeply grounded.
(Pause for a few breaths)
Connecting with Your Breath
Now, let's gently bring your awareness to that incredible gift: your breath. Imagine each inhale as a soft, white mist, filling your lungs with pure peace. And every exhale? That's like a gentle breeze, just effortlessly carrying away any lingering tension.
Next, let's just allow your awareness to gently expand outwards, to the space right around you. Picture this space filled with a soft, calming lavender light—so serene. You might notice some sounds, like distant echoes in a quiet forest, and that's perfectly fine, just don't cling to them. Just gently guide your focus back to your beautiful inner experience, always anchored by that steady, warm connection to the Earth.
The Still Lake Within
Now, let's take a journey together in your mind. Imagine you're standing right on the shore of a vast, utterly still lake, nestled so peacefully in a secluded valley. The water... it's the color of twilight, perfectly calm, reflecting the soft, pearly sky above like a flawless mirror. The air is cool here, carrying the gentle scent of pine and damp earth. There are no ripples, no disturbances at all—just a deep, profound stillness.
(Pause)
Sense the quiet energy of this lake, shimmering with a subtle inner light. It is peaceful, serene, and holds a deep wisdom within its stillness, all while you feel the strong, golden roots connecting you to the Earth below.
(Pause)
Now, if it feels right, imagine you are gently stepping into this magnificent lake. Feel that cool, silken water surrounding you completely, and notice how your grounding roots extend even further, anchoring you effortlessly as you move deeper into this tranquility. The sounds of the outside world just begin to fade away, like whispers on the wind, and that beautiful connection to the Earth remains your steady, unwavering anchor.
(Pause)
Allow yourself to be fully immersed in this inner lake of stillness, feeling the gentle embrace of the water and the solid support of the Earth. Feel it surrounding you, supporting you, calming you, anchoring you in perfect harmony.
(Pause)
And if thoughts pop up – and they will, that's perfectly normal! – just imagine them as small, fluffy white clouds drifting across the vast, open sky reflected in your lake. Just observe them, no need to judge or hold onto them. Then, gently, kindly guide your attention right back to that deep stillness beneath the surface, always, always aware of your golden grounding.
(Pause)
Your Inner Sanctuary
Know this, my friend: there is a place of profound quiet right within you, just like this still lake, held so securely by our beautiful Earth. It is always there, a sacred sanctuary just waiting for you to reconnect with it. In this stillness, you can discover clarity as pure as the reflection on the water, peace as deep as the serene valley, and a quiet, profound sense of inner knowing—all while remaining so wonderfully grounded and present.
(Longer Pause)
Returning to Your Day
Now, as we gently begin to bring your awareness back, take another beautiful, deep breath in, drawing in all that stillness from the lake and the incredible grounding energy of the Earth, feeling them softly intertwine within you. Hold it for just a moment... and then slowly release it, feeling that profound peace and stability gently settle deep inside.
(Pause)
Gently, gently bring your awareness back to your physical body now, to that warm, golden connection with the Earth beneath you. Wiggle your fingers and toes, just feeling the wonderful physical reality of your presence here. And when you feel completely ready, take all the time you need, slowly open your eyes, carrying this profound sense of inner stillness and grounded peace with you, like a precious gem, right into the gentle unfolding of your day.
(Take your time.)
Reflect and Share
Take a moment right now to just notice how you feel after this practice. Allow that beautiful sense of inner stillness and grounded presence to just linger a bit. Remember, this quiet sanctuary is always right there within you, ready for you to return to any time you wish. Just like the lake reflects the sky and your roots connect you to our Earth, you too can always find clarity and stability by tapping into this inner space.
If this meditation helped you find a bit more stillness and grounding, I truly hope you'll consider making it a regular part of your self-care routine. And please, I'd absolutely love to hear from you in the comments below – what images or sensations resonated with you the most? Your insights can be such an inspiration and support for others on their own journey to inner peace.
